My Darling Caroline!

This saturday we all decided to go out and get something decent to eat! From one of our earlier excursions we noticed this huge western place in Gampel, about half an hours drive from Brig. As we all have pizza coming out of our ears, we wanted to get something different..maybe a nice juicy burger? Well, after whipping ourselves through -60C, where my ears almost fell off, we were finally on our way! We finally arrived and I must say I am quite impressed by the place! It's all built up to imitate this huge western style ranch..and they have succeeded. We entered and expected to see lucky luke greeting us..but no...what is this? Well around us we see waiters hurrying around in swiss national outfits...well so much for that western atmosphere! We got seated and started to scrutinize the menu! The selection wasn't the biggest but they had the basics..ranging from US ribs to grilled chicken and baked potatoes. They also had various swiss dishes..."Walliser Cowboy Teller" :) Most of us went for the US ribs, which came with fried potatoes and a salsa looking dip sause! I set my teeth into the rib and ripped loose the first chunk of meat...and OMG! WOOooOOOoOOoo...one sentence...Taste buds gone WilD! Did not take long until that rack was history! In the meanwhile though, a band came on stage..and I awaited the singer to start spitting out some country songs..but what? OOohh la la...ompa ompa myyyy daaarling caroline! Where was I? I kinda got the feeling that I was in the middle of the October fest...lacking the beer...(well they had original October fest Mas glasses if anyone is interested + US pitchers for the true hearted cowboys out there). One could see everyone starting to swing themselves to the rythms in real "walliser" fashion!

Overall this evening was quite a blast..and I recomend everybody to take a trip down there and check it out..Fridays & Saturdays they have a live band playing from 8 and onwoards!

Kim

PS! It must be also noted that they have a "Pirates Disco" next door which looks quite interesting!
